Overview

Items which are not owned by the library and items which are currently unavailable may be requested through interlibrary loan. There are two methods for requesting materials through interlibrary loan: requesting material through the library catalog & filling out a blank request form. You can check the status of your request online.

Requesting Material Through the Catalog

1. Using the MCTC library catalog or MnPALS union catalog, locate an item you wish to request.
   Please note, items which are listed as available in the MCTC library catalog may not be requested.
2. Click on the "Login" link which is located under the "Request Item" column.
3. Log in.
4. Click on the "Request" link which is now located under "Request Item" column.
5. Click on the "Create ILL Request" Button.

Items requested throught the catalog usually arrive within 3 to 5 business days.

Using the Blank Request Form

If you cannot locate an item you would like to request in the library catalog, you can fill out a blank request form. Select the link that best matches your request:
Book, CD, DVD Request Form or Journal Article Request Form.

Checking the Status of Your Request

1. Go to the MnPALS Plus Borrowing Record page.
2. Log in.
3. Click on the "Interlibrary Loan Requests" line.
4. Check the information listed under the "Status" column.

You may need to refresh the page to see changes.
New requests can take a couple of minutes to appear in your account.

Cancelling a Request

1. Go to the MnPALS Plus Borrowing Record page.
2. Log in.
3. Click on the "Interlibrary Loan Requests" line.
4. Click "Cancel" under the ILL Actions column.
